Parkinson Association of Minnesota
It is estimated that one and a half million people in this country have Parkinson disease. Approximately 25,000 of those individuals live in Minnesota. Parkinson disease is a debilitating neurological disorder, which can literally make people prisoners in their own bodies. This disease affects not only Parkinson patients, but their entire family as well.
The Parkinson Association of America (PAM) was established in 1995 to raise public awareness and understanding of Parkinson disease as well as to provide much needed services for patients and their families. In 2005, PAM established the Respite Care Grant Program to provide caregivers with much needed respite.
Maser & Amundson, P.A. supports PAM through active involvement with the annual Spring Membership Soiree and by initiating and co-sponsoring the annual Golf Tournament. Luther Amundson served as chair of the Golf Tournament Committee for the first five years and has served as co-chair thereafter.

What is the Respite Care Grant Program?
We want to find a cure for Parkinson disease, but until we do, we need to support the people who are impacted by the disease. We believe the PAM Respite Care Grant Program is one way to provide such support.
The Respite Grant Program's objective is to provide caregivers with respite so they can take care of themselves while they are caring for someone with Parkinson disease.
Grants of up to $500 per fiscal year, through the PAM Respite Care Grant Program, can potentially cover up two two full days in a facility, ongoing adult day care or shorter periods of in-home care. this respite care can provide the caregiver with an opportunity to take care of personal needs and thus relieve a small portion of the stress related to their day-to-day caregiving responsibilities.
PAM Respite Care Grants are available to those for whom such services would provide a financial hardship and aren't eligible for other subsidized programs, You can start the process by following the link to www.parkinsonmn.org/respite_care_grant_program.htm, reviewing the guidelines, completing the application and submitting it for processing.
